MOSCOW, Oct 19 (PRIME) -- Russia’s top bank Sberbank has issued 128,000 mortgage loans totaling more than 323 billion rubles under the government’s 6.5% program, Kirill Tsaryov, head of the bank’s retail business, told reporters on Monday.
“In the framework of the State Support 2020 easy-term mortgage program, the bank has issued 128,000 loans totaling more than 232 billion rubles,” he said.
Demand for the program is stable and high. In August, the bank issued 30,000 mortgage loans worth 81 billion rubles under the program, and in September 32,000 loans worth 89 billion rubles, he said, adding that Sberbank supports prolongation of the program.
The program, launched in April, will expire on November 1. But President Vladimir Putin suggested prolongation until July 1, 2021.
